About the designer
Christopher Lane
Bach Design Graphic Design, Dip Garden Design
Christopher is passionate about good design and has been part of the Adelaide design industry for more than a decade. He began his design career as a graphic designer, completing a Degree in Graphic Design in the 1990s.
After establishing himself as a well-respected Adelaide designer, Christopher moved to the UK to study British and European design. During this time, he was employed by one of London’s most prestigious garden design firms. He worked on gardens in some of London’s elite suburbs including Nottinghill and Chelsea. One of the highlights of Christopher’s time in the UK was working on the garden of former England football manager Sven Goren Erikson.
Christopher was so inspired by working in the field alongside a top garden designer that, on returning to Adelaide, he decided to do more study and gain a Diploma in Garden Design.
The self-professed environmentalist and animal lover is an expert in water-wise and fauna-friendly gardens. His elegant designs place as little pressure as possible on our natural resources. |

Water-wise gardens
Designing a water-wise garden involves so much more than choosing drought-resistant plants. Christopher will recommend suitable irrigation, plant combinations, mulching and hard landscaping options to reduce the use of this precious natural resource.
Fauna-friendly gardens
To attract native animals and insects into your garden, it is important to have plants that are both native to your area and enticing to these little creatures. Your garden also needs to be a safe and secure area for birds and animals so they feel comfortable entering your haven. Christopher will research what native birds and animals live in your local area and the types of plants to which they are attracted. He will also recommend ways to make your garden safer for birds and animals. |
